Introduction
Our parent den leader volunteers donate their time and talent to ensure a quality program for our Scouts. All adult leaders are first required to take Youth Protection Training offered by Scouts BSA. The Diocese of Arlington Office of Child & Youth Protection also conducts a background check, and requires VIRTUS training.
Once a volunteer completes these two comprehensive checkpoints, position specific training is offered. Then, the Pack Committee confirms the volunteer in their position. Child safety is our number one priority, followed by adventure! To make Cub Scouting work it takes a team made up of each Cub Scout’s parent or guardian and other caring adults who agree to take on roles that best fit their individual talents. Together this team makes up the Pack Committee. |
Committee Chair
The Pack Committee Chair is appointed by the Chartered Organization to oversee the Pack Committee as they provide support to Den Leaders to ensure a quality program.
The current Pack Committee Chair is Patrick Lusch. Patrick and his son Kylan joined Pack 301 in 2018 after moving to the Alexandria area from the Detroit, Michigan area. Patrick's wife Kim is a first grade teacher at the Basilica School of St. Mary. A former airline pilot, he now works for the Federal Aviation Administration as an Air Accident Investigator. |
Cubmaster
The leader of the pack meeting is the Cubmaster, and the "face of the Pack!". In addition to serving as the master of ceremonies, the Cubmaster provides support to Den Leaders and Committee.
The current Cubmaster is Bob Hohman. Mr. Hohman holds a Master of Arts (MA) in International Commerce and Policy from George Mason University, is a graduate of Georgetown University’s Change Management Advanced Practitioner Program (CMAP). Treasurer
The treasurer ensures the pack's finances are sound. Specifically, the treasurer will help the pack committee and Cubmaster establish a sound financial program for the pack with a pack budget plan.
The current Treasurer is Kevin Kuntz. Kevin and his son Ben joined Pack 301 in 2015. Kevin and his wife Norma have been members of the Basilica of Saint Mary since 2009. Kevin has worked in the Private Equity industry since 2002, most recently as the CFO of Juggernaut Capital in Washington, D.C. Kevin comes from a family with a long tradition of Scouting as he, his two brothers and father are all Eagle Scouts. |
Pack Chaplain / Chartered Organization Representative
The Chartered Organization Representative (COR) is the chief Scouting representative for the parish/organization.
The current Chartering Organization Representative and Pack Chaplain is Fr. Nicholas Blank. Fr. Nicholas is the son of Navy parents and the oldest of nine children—his youngest brother is the same age as our Scouts! If Father weren’t a Catholic priest, he would be playing or coaching soccer and teaching Philosophy or Theology to high schoolers. As a Catholic priest, he gets to do all of these things! Fr. Nicholas has served at the Basilica since June 2019. |
